Tony Stewart Locks In Mobil 1 as a Primary Sponsor for 2011

After being informed that Old Spice was going to cut their sponsorship with Stewart-Haas Racing, Tony Stewart knew he had some work cut out for him to find a new sponsor to fill their blank space on his cars and uniforms.

For the two-time Sprint Cup Series Champion and 2010 Sprint Cup Series Chase contender, the length of time it took him to find a new sponsor was probably overwhelming and tedious. It took Stewart five months to find a new sponsor to fill the shoes that Old Spice was leaving behind. While many wouldn’t gripe about a five-month route to find a new sponsor, it was likely the longest five months for Stewart as a part business owner.

Stewart announced on Tuesday that Stewart-Haas Racing and Mobil 1 had agreed to and signed a multi-year sponsorship contract, which will take effect at the beginning of the 2011 NASCAR season.

With this huge burden out of the way, Stewart can truly focus on winning his third Sprint Cup Series title. Stewart was able to finish first last Sunday in Fontana, California, at Auto Club Speedway with teammate, Ryan Newman, securing a fifth place finish. Stewart’s victory, however, was his first win at Auto Club Speedway as well as his 39th victory in his NASCAR Sprint Cup career.

After coming off such a great victory last Sunday and moving up five positions in the point standings, the owner and driver of the #14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet is ready to secure yet another win this Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

ExxonMobil has secured the primary sponsorship on Stewart’s #14 Chevrolet for 11 races. Thanks to the newly signed agreement with ExxonMobil along with Burger King and Office Depot, Tony Stewart’s car will be fully funded for the entire 2011 NASCAR season.

While Stewart’s car is completely funded next year, SHR still needs to land sponsorship deals for teammate Ryan Newman’s #39 racecar.
